The local museum of Laax. The building hosting the local museum of Laax was founded in the 19th century. In 1971 the former cheese-makery was acquired by the political community of Laax, and in 1978/79 was reconstructed by the foundation „Pro Laax". The inauguration on July 6, 1980 was celebrated by the „Cerchel cultural Laax". The shed „clavau pervenda", dated 1696, was moved next to the local museum and in 1999, the connecting wing was opened to the public. Well over 2200 cultural assets were carefully exposed and collected by the „Cerchel cultural". They are all hand-made, some by inhabitants of Laax and some found their way to Laax as dowry items silent witnesses, speaking a colourful and vivid language.

The exhibition rooms „kitchen", „living room" and „bedroom" show how the farmers have been living for the last 150 years.

The other exhibition rooms show objects of farming or sports and items made by local craftsmen.

Since october 1999, a modern slide show called „Laax gestern und heute" (Laax once upon a time and today) has been giving an interesting overview about Laax.

The goal of the commission of the museum is to preserve the inherited cultural assets and to cultivate the lingual expression in our life.
